Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
A panda conservation and breeding facility about 10 km north of the city, home to more than 100 pandas from cubs to adults. Pandas are most active in the morning and tend to laze around by about 10 a.m., so it's best to go right after opening (8 a.m.).

About 40 minutes from downtown by subway + bus or taxi. Best right after the 8 a.m. opening.
