N Seoul Tower — 360° Seoul from Namsan
Seoul's landmark observation tower atop Namsan mountain. Ride the cable car up and the city spreads out in every direction from the deck; at dusk the whole of Seoul lights up. The ‘love locks’ on the terrace are part of the ritual.
History
A roughly 236m broadcasting and observation tower, begun in 1969 and opened to the public in 1975. Standing atop Namsan (about 243m), its effective viewing height reaches some 480m. A 2005 revamp into ‘N Seoul Tower’ overhauled the lighting and observation facilities, cementing its place as Seoul's signature night-view spot.
Getting there
Ride the Namsan cable car up from near Myeongdong, or take a Namsan circular bus. From the cable car it's a short walk to the tower. Visible from all over downtown, it's hard to lose your way.
