- Visa & pre-arrival: Many nationalities get 45 days visa-free in Vietnam (extended, currently through 2028). Keep six months of passport validity, and have a return or onward ticket ready in case immigration asks. On top of that, file the online Pre-Arrival Information (PAI,
prearrival.immigration.gov.vn) before you fly and save the QR; Cam Ranh has asked arriving foreigners for it since June 2026. Guidance calls it both required and a pilot, so filing ahead avoids any argument at the desk. - Money: The currency is the dong (VND). These days a travel debit card withdrawing from fee-free local ATMs (VPBank, TPBank) plus Grab card payments beats the old dollars-then-dong double exchange; for cash, town gold shops change won directly. The numbers are large, so always count the zeros.
- Connectivity (eSIM): Set up an eSIM or a local SIM before you fly and Grab, maps, and translation work right away.
- Getting around: In town, walking plus Grab cars and motorbikes is plenty. Metered taxis sometimes overcharge, so Grab, which fixes the fare in the app, is the easier choice.

Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) is 35–45 km from town, a 40–50 minute drive (about a 5-hour direct flight from Incheon). Many flights land before dawn, so settle this leg in advance (as of 2026-08).

- How. Grab and Xanh SM fix the fare once you set the destination. If cars are scarce at dawn, book a hotel pickup ahead.
- The way back. International flights want you at the airport 3 hours before departure; count 40–50 minutes from town plus a buffer, and for a red-eye book a pickup since Grab can be hard to catch.
- Where to stay. First-timers: a beachfront hotel along Nha Trang Beach. The beach, night market, and restaurants are walkable, so you barely need Grab inside that area.
Day 1–2: arrival + Nha Trang Beach + the town
You leave on a night flight, land at Cam Ranh Airport at dawn, take a pickup to your city hotel, check in, and rest for a bit. Once you've recovered, start the trip with a swim and a walk on Nha Trang Beach, right out front.
In the evening, wander the town and the night market. Make your first meal Nha Trang's signature nem nướng (grilled pork you wrap yourself) and some cheap seafood. Keep the arrival day easy, sticking to the beach and the town center.
Day 3: VinWonders or a four-island hopping tour
For families and water lovers, VinWonders Nha Trang is the pick. You ride a long cable car straight across the sea to Hon Tre island and spend the whole day at the water park, the rides, and the aquarium. Admission is about 950,000–1,050,000 VND for adults; the after-4pm ticket is cheaper.
If you'd rather snorkel and take in island scenery, the four-island hopping speedboat tour is the way to go, roughly 450,000–500,000 VND all-in. It loops between islands so you can snorkel and enjoy a seafood lunch; note the Hon Mun reef is closed to snorkeling for coral restoration, so the actual snorkeling is at other permitted spots.

Pick up Vietnamese coffee, dried fruit, and souvenirs at Dam Market or a supermarket, then head to Cam Ranh Airport. Flights often leave at night, so you can check out, store your bags, and squeeze in another half-day.
Nha Trang food: nem nướng, bánh xèo, seafood
Cheap prices make Nha Trang a great place to eat well. Learn a few dishes and every meal is a pleasure.
- Nem nướng: Nha Trang's signature. Grilled pork meatballs wrapped in rice paper with herbs and vegetables. The Ninh Hoa style is the famous one.
- Bánh xèo: A crispy Vietnamese savory pancake, filled with shrimp and bean sprouts and wrapped in greens.
- Seafood: Crab and shrimp are cheap at local spots and markets. Lobster at beachfront tourist restaurants, though, can cost as much as back home or more, so check the weight and price before ordering.
- Phở and bún chả: Phở (noodle soup), bún chả, and bánh mì are cheap and filling everywhere.

Nha Trang weather and when to go
Nha Trang has a tropical climate split into dry and rainy seasons. Roughly January through August is the dry season, clear and good for the water; September through December is the wetter, rainier stretch. Summer (June to August) is hot but high season, when the sea is at its clearest, while February to May is cooler and comfortable for traveling. Even in the rainy season, showers tend to blow through quickly rather than last all day, so a beach trip isn't out of the question.
The midday sun is strong, so a rash guard, a hat, sunscreen, and swim gear are essential.
