Nha Trang Travel Guide (2026)
A beach city on Vietnam's south-central coast. Seven kilometres of sand run straight along the downtown, and the islands scattered offshore make a boat day the obvious addition. Cam Ranh airport is 45 minutes out, and prices are low enough that the same budget buys a much longer stay.

Food & dining
Nem nuong — grilled pork rolled into rice paper at the table — is the dish the city is known for, and bun cha ca, a fish-cake noodle soup, started here too. Seafood is cheap around Dam Market and the restaurants at the south end of the beach, and breakfast is a banh mi with ca phe sua da. A filling meal stays under about USD 7.
Getting around
Cam Ranh International is about 35km out, roughly 45 minutes. The airport bus is cheapest at VND 65,000 per person, running every 30 minutes from 05:00 until the last arrival. Grab or a taxi is VND 300,000-400,000, and shared pickup services run about VND 100,000 a head to your hotel door. The centre is walkable, and GrabBike is far cheaper over short distances. The PAI pre-arrival declaration is mandatory at Cam Ranh.

Good to know before you go
Is there something I must file online before arriving in Nha Trang?
Yes. The PAI pre-arrival declaration has been rolled out airport by airport, and at Cam Ranh (CXR), the airport Nha Trang uses, it has been mandatory since June 2026. Ho Chi Minh City came first on 15 April 2026, then Phu Quoc on 1 June, Hanoi on 8 June and Da Nang on 15 June; it has since extended to the Dong Dang land crossing and a list of seaports. Everyone without a Vietnamese passport must file, and being visa-exempt does not excuse you. File at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn from three days before arrival up to arrival itself; the system issues a QR code you show at immigration.
Do I need a visa for Nha Trang?
Korean passports get up to 45 days visa-free, as do Japan and a number of European countries. There is a catch worth knowing: after using the exemption you must wait 30 days before entering visa-free again. If you are making two trips inside a month, plan an e-visa (evisa.gov.vn) for the second. Stays beyond 45 days also need one. And whichever applies, the PAI filing above is separate.
How do I get from Cam Ranh airport into the city?
It is about 35km and 45 minutes. The cheapest way is the airport bus at VND 65,000 per person, every 30 minutes from 05:00 until the last arriving flight. Grab or a metered taxi runs VND 300,000-400,000, and shared pickup services are around VND 100,000 a head and drop you at your hotel. If you take a street taxi, check the meter is running.
Is all of VinWonders open?
The park itself, reached by the cable car that crosses the bay, is operating. But the aquarium closed for maintenance on 31 March 2025 with reopening stated as February 2026, and that reopening could not be confirmed. The fish feeding and mermaid shows were suspended for the same stretch. If the aquarium is the reason you are going, check the official site for that day before you commit. The cable car ride over open water is worth doing regardless.
How do I pick an island tour?
The common one loops the near islands — Hon Mun, Hon Mot and others — leaving in the morning and back by mid-afternoon, usually with snorkelling and lunch included. Boat size and group numbers change the price and the feel far more than the itinerary does. On choppy days the smaller boats move a lot, so choose a larger one if you are prone to seasickness. Cancellations are common in the October-December wet season.
When is the best time to visit Nha Trang?
The dry season runs roughly January to August, and if you plan to swim, March to August is the window. September to December is wet, with days where island tours are called off, but lodging drops sharply. High summer is hot, though a beach city carries it well, and holding one indoor plan in reserve keeps a rainy day from being a lost one.
