Tokyo Skytree

A broadcasting tower 634m tall that opened in 2012 — the tallest in Japan and among the tallest in the world. Its two decks, the Tembo Deck at 350m and the Tembo Galleria at 450m, take in the whole cityscape, and on clear days you can see all the way to Mount Fuji.

History

Begun in 2008 and opened in 2012, this 634m broadcasting tower transmits digital terrestrial TV. The number 634 reads as "Musashi," the old name of the region. Built to replace Tokyo Tower (333m) as the city's main transmitter, it was the world's tallest tower when it opened.

Getting there

Directly connected to Tokyo Skytree Station on the Tobu Skytree Line, and to Oshiage Station on the Hanzomon and Asakusa lines. At its base is the large Tokyo Solamachi complex, good for a meal and shopping too.
