Tumon Beach
Tumon Bay is one of Guam's five marine preserves. Taking shells, sand or rocks out is prohibited, spearfishing is banned, and the bay is a green sea turtle nesting site. You can walk over from the hotels in swimwear, which makes it an easy arrival-day plan.
Tips
- ·As a marine preserve it bans removing shells, sand or rocks, and spearfishing
- ·Rip currents are common. The Guam Visitors Bureau water safety page is explicit about never wandering out past the reef line
- ·Box jellyfish sightings rise in the July to December wet season. If you see clear jelly-like creatures, stay out of the water
- ·Guam EPA samples beaches every Thursday and publishes the results on Friday afternoon. Tumon Bay's monitoring points are Gun Beach, Gognga Beach, Naton Beach and Ypao Beach
