Boracay Travel Guide (2026)
A small island in the central Philippines, seven kilometres long and narrow enough to cover much of it on foot. White Beach on the west side is effectively the whole point. After the island closed for six months in 2018 and was rebuilt, building and trading rules on the sand are stricter than they used to be.

Food & dining
Lechon, sinigang and adobo are the mainland dishes; on the island the common format is picking fish or prawns and having them grilled. Restaurants and bars cluster around D'Mall, and a mango shake or halo-halo is the default hot afternoon. Prices run higher than Cebu or Manila, but plenty of meals still land under about USD 7.
Getting around
Caticlan airport (MPH) sits next to the jetty, which makes it the easy arrival; coming through Kalibo (KLO) adds an hour and a half to two hours by road. From the jetty the boat takes 15 minutes. Three charges are collected there: an environmental fee of PHP 300, a terminal fee of PHP 150, and the boat fare of PHP 60 — about PHP 510 one way for a foreign adult. On the island, tricycles and e-tricycles are how people move.

How does Philippines eTravel registration work?
It is mandatory for every international traveller and still in force in 2026. The catch worth knowing: the window only opens within 72 hours of your arrival or departure. Try to file earlier and it simply will not go through, so put it in the calendar for three days out. It takes under ten minutes and issues a QR code, which is scanned at boarding and at immigration. The official site, etravel.gov.ph, is free. Anything charging a fee is not official, so check the address. You file again for the flight home.
What do I pay to get onto Boracay?
Three charges, collected at Caticlan Jetty Port before you board. The environmental fee of PHP 300 is charged once for the whole stay, on first entry only. The terminal fee of PHP 150 is charged both entering and leaving, so PHP 300 for a return. The boat fare is PHP 60, raised from PHP 50 on 16 April 2026. That is about PHP 510 one way for a foreign adult. Plenty of guides double the environmental fee for a round trip; they are wrong. You fill in a short form with passport details, pay at separate windows, and show the tickets at the pier.
Can I pay these online in advance?
Yes. Boracay iPass (boracayipass.ph) is the provincial government's system for paying the environmental and terminal fees, and the boat fare if you want, before you reach the port. Note that using iPass is optional even though the fees are not — the manual windows still operate, so skipping it does not keep you off the island. In peak season, when the queues are long, doing it ahead is noticeably faster.
Should I fly into Caticlan or Kalibo?
Caticlan (MPH) is right beside the jetty — about ten minutes from the terminal to the boat. Kalibo (KLO) adds an hour and a half to two hours by road, but its longer runway means more routes and often cheaper fares. Buy time with Caticlan, or save money with Kalibo plus a van transfer. Caticlan handles mostly smaller aircraft, so weather delays are comparatively more common there.
Which White Beach station should I stay at?
Station 1 has the finest sand and the most space, suits a quiet stay, and costs the most. Station 2 wraps around D'Mall and is the centre of the restaurants, shops and evening, which makes it the easy first-visit choice. Station 3 is cheaper and keeps more of the everyday island. The island is small enough that you can walk between them, so choose on quiet versus convenient rather than logistics.
When is the best time to visit Boracay?
The amihan, the northeast monsoon roughly from November to May, is the dry season, with calm water and White Beach at its best. During the habagat, roughly June to October, rain and swell increase and seaweed can wash in — but lodging drops sharply, and Bulabog Beach on the other side gets the wind that makes it kitesurfing season. The turn between the two shifts year to year, so check the forecast before you go.
